Another tip from a detailing pro here: Preparation is key.
When detailing your car, or when you just want to wax it, it is very important to do a stellar job on the wash. You want to get every bit of dirt, grime and pollen, etc off the paint before you attempt to seal it. This helps there to be a smooth surface for the wax to bond to. If the paint on your car is smooth as glass, the wax with have a nice even layer of protection on your car. If it feels bumpy and sort of gritty, it means you need more work: clay bar and possibly a polish. I'll cover these in a later section.
But for now, remember that when you're doing anything on the paint of your car, preparation is vital to a good result. This means take the time to do a really good wash before going any further.
